Empowering communities and enhancing the lives of children in Ghana are at the heart of SOS Kinderdorpen Putten's mission. In a remarkable display of dedication and sustainability, the Putten Adoption Group of SOS Kinderdorpen continues to make significant strides towards improving access to essential resources for schools in Ghana.
Through the combined efforts of eighteen passionate volunteers and the successful sales of preloved garments, the Adoption Group was able to contribute generously to the installation of vital water wells in Ghanaian schools. Individuals like Herma Jongekrijg, Kiny Beukema, and Hillie de Haan have been instrumental in driving positive change through their unwavering support.
The Putten store, a cornerstone of the community's commitment to sustainable practices, has thrived for 45 years under the guidance of dedicated volunteers. Located within the cultural hub of Stroud, the store serves as a hub for clothing donations, sorting, and sales. Volunteers play a vital role in managing day-to-day operations, including administration, sales, and organization, fostering a close-knit and cohesive team dynamic.
Reflecting on the collective spirit of collaboration, one volunteer shared, "We are a tight-knit group, working together towards a common goal of making a tangible difference in the lives of children in need."
